Add a touch of ancient symbolism and metallic elegance to your home with this exceptional pair of vintage Chinese bronze fish vases. Expertly crafted, these sculptural vessels are shaped like stylized carp, a traditional Chinese symbol representing abundance, surplus, and prosperity ("Yu" sounds like "surplus" in Chinese).
Exquisite Craftsmanship & Details:
Gold Inlay (Cuojin): The bodies of the fish are intricately decorated with a repeating scale pattern inlaid in gold, which contrasts beautifully with the dark, heavily patinated bronze.
Sculptural Form: Each vase features a flared mouth, a tapered neck, and a flaring base. The sides are adorned with prominent, stylized fins, and the eyes are accented with raised gold dots.
Base Decoration: The lower section of each vase features striking, geometric gold inlaid patterns resembling ancient Chinese characters or stylized waves.
Patina: The bronze exhibits a rich, natural patina with areas of verdigris (green oxidation) and dark brown tones, giving these pieces a wonderful antique character and depth.
