c. 1930s; The Roberts-Gordon Appliance Corp. - Buffalo, NY
Portable salesman's sample air conditioning demonstrator housed in a black leatherette travel case with metal latches and handle.
This rare demonstration unit was produced by Gordonair as a compact teaching and sales tool, allowing traveling representatives to showcase the principles of air conditioning during the interwar years. The unit is built into a cream-painted cabinet with a glazed front inspection door, internal circulation components, and a removable tray. A bold green trade-mark label on the front identifies it as a "Gordonair Conditioning Demonstrator." The outer case features reinforced corners, dual latches, and a fold-down ramp for access, suggesting it was designed to be displayed in offices or trade halls. A scarce survival from the dawn of modern cooling technology.
