The figures are rendered with a charming level of detail-note the webbed feet, stylized musculature, and finely textured surfaces suggesting amphibian skin. The frogs are conjoined at the hands and mounted on an organic, freeform base, creating a unified and animated composition.
Each frog supports a single curved candle arm terminating in a tulip-form fluted bobeche. The candle cups show evidence of age and use, with natural wax residue and oxidation present throughout. The patina is a mix of darkened bronze tones and verdigris, adding depth and visual interest while attesting to the piece's age.
Likely crafted in the mid-20th century, this piece combines folk art sensibilities with functional decorative design. It evokes a sense of movement and humor while maintaining strong sculptural integrity. Unsigned, but suggestive of artisan studio production or small-batch casting.Good vintage condition. Surface oxidation, minor pitting, and verdigris throughout consistent with age. Candle cups show signs of past use. No structural damage or visible repairs.A striking and imaginative accent piece for collectors of animal-themed decor, folk sculpture, or unique candleware.
