Vintage, mid-century, space age, industrial-style, rise and fall pendant lamp in the shape of a flying saucer, made of brushed … Read more Vintage, mid-century, space age, industrial-style, rise and fall pendant lamp in the shape of a flying saucer, made of brushed aluminum with a cup-shaped ceiling mount, retractable cord and separate pull handle, circa 1970's.

this piece features its original, oval-shaped, silver-colored, pull handle (ring), which enables one to modify the length of the cord from a height 69.5 cm when fully retracted, all the way down to 210 cm, making it convenient to place in any given space, and adjust accordingly.

also present and fully functional inside of the ceiling mount, is the lamp's original, "rise and fall" mechanism, manufactured by rolly, italy (see photos.) additionally, it has an "s"-shaped hook at the top of the system, so one can easily hook it into a ceiling apparatus. Underneath, there's a circular, plastic grill with 10, concentric circles (or rings), that go from large to small, and 6 spokes that go to the edge of the shade. At its center is the smallest circle, where the pull handle is located (see photos.)
also present, are its three (3), original, brass sockets that function with b-22 type, flame-shaped, bayonet lightbulbs (see photos.)

although this lamp is similar to others made during the same period, it has been determined that this model was made in the early 1970's, as later models went from having 3 sockets to 1 socket. Additionally, there are 12, small holes on the top of the shade, just below the neck, which also differ from similar designs of this period.

the lamp is in overall, good, original, vintage condition, with some normal signs, marks of age and previous usage commensurate with time on the shade, ceiling mount, neck, pull handle and plastic grill (see photos), none of which affect its functionality. There is still a nice patina of time on the brushed aluminum, also commensurate with age. (see photos.)

the lamp has been tested and functions perfectly (see photos.)
when lit, it emits a nice glow, from both below and above, where the 12, small holes on top of the shade, allow the light to come through, truly evoking the look and effects of a ufo and will be a great conversation piece in any given space.

- lightbulbs not included.
- the grill and pull handle will need to be gently removed in order to insert light bulbs and then carefully re-installed, once bulbs are in place.
