This exceptional example of Art Deco weaving represents the pinnacle of early 20th-century Chinese production. Its deep, saturated field provides a dramatic backdrop characteristic of the period, making it a highly desirable antique rug.

The mesmerizing field is rendered in a vibrant sapphire hue, a signature shade of the era that contrasts sharply with the intricate border. The central floral medallion, while delicate, anchors the composition, allowing the expansive blue color to dominate the visual space and create a profound sense of depth.

The design is framed by a complex border featuring naturalistic branches of blossoming cherry and plum, interspersed with traditional Chinese symbols and birds. This sophisticated use of negative space and detailed ornamentation elevates the piece beyond standard production. The focus on stylized, yet recognizable, floral rugs defines its Art Deco aesthetic.

Woven in high-quality wool with a luxurious pile, this piece was designed to command a significant space. Its generous dimensions ensure that it functions beautifully as a statement piece, perfectly suited for grand interiors requiring room size rugs of historical significance and enduring style. See less
