A striking pair of limited-edition works from Mikulas Kravjansky’s “Flowers of the Orient” series. Kravjansky (b. 1928) was born in Czechoslovakia and later established his artistic career in Canada, where he became known for his distinctive approach to printmaking and richly textured graphic works.
“Flowers of the Orient” was conceived as a series of five compositions inspired by East Asian imagery, combining elegant female figures in traditional dress with bold botanical forms. These two examples feature dramatic floral backgrounds and highly detailed figures, brought to life through Kravjansky’s distinctive use of layered paper and multiple printmaking techniques.
Each work combines collograph, etching, and aquatint on layered paper and is hand-signed and numbered in pencil 130/175. The dimensional quality of the layered paper, together with saturated reds, greens, blues, and lavender tones, gives the compositions a richly textured and tactile presence.
Presented in coordinating black and gold-tone frames, the two works form a dramatic complementary pair.
