This striking pair of Art Deco style chrome table lamps showcases the sleek, geometric characteristics that defined the Machine Age aesthetic of the 1930s.
STYLE: These lamps mimic the prominent architectural motifs of the early 20th century. The central column rests upon a stepped base, mirroring the iconic "skyscraper" step-backs popularized in Art Deco cityscapes. Near the top of the column, three horizontal stacked metal fins or discs simulate industrial machine components, cooling vents, or streamlined train details typical of the era.
FEATURES: The lamps feature a two-light, dual socket assembly with the cords utilizing inline roller switches alongside an older brown ribbed plastic plug style. Ball finials at the apex work to anchor a lampshade atop the central stems.
MATERIALS: The underside of the circular bases shows heavily weighted cast metal interior shells wrapped in polished chrome plating. This structure provided immense stability to prevent top-heaviness when paired with substantial glass or fabric shades.
