The rounded, teardrop-shaped body curves gracefully to a defined head at one end, featuring a distinct circular eye rendered in raised relief, while the opposite end fans outward into a dramatic tail fin, its individual ray-like segments separated by fine cut lines that create a naturalistic, articulated appearance. The concave interior basin, deep enough to comfortably hold ashes or cigars, displays a beautifully mottled patina in warm russet, umber, and dusty violet tones, the natural oxidation creating an almost painterly, abstract landscape across the metal surface. The exterior rim and tail retain a cooler, silvery-grey tone with hints of verdigris green, providing striking chromatic contrast to the warmer interior coloration. Small scalloped notches along the head and tail edges add subtle decorative detailing that enhances the piece's overall fish-like character. This charming combination of sculptural whimsy and functional design exemplifies the playful spirit found in vintage mixed-metal decorative objects and tabletop accessories.

This ashtray makes a delightful conversation piece for a bar cart, coffee table, or desk, whether used functionally or displayed as a small sculptural object. It complements Boho, Coastal, Eclectic Maximalist, and Mid-Century Modern interiors particularly well. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid harsh polishes that could strip the natural patina developed over time. The piece measures 6 inches in width, 5½ inches in depth, and 1¼ inches in height. It presents in good condition, with a patina consistent with age showing visible oxidation and discoloration, minor surface scratches and scuffs typical of normal use, and full structural soundness with no significant damage or repairs.
