1918 Royal Staffordshire Pottery Toby jug depicting Admiral John Jellicoe, 1st Earl Jellicoe, Commander of the British Grand Fleet during the Battle of Jutland in 1916. Designed by caricaturist Francis Carruthers Gould and manufactured by Arthur J. Wilkinson, the figural ceramic jug portrays Jellicoe seated in a blue naval uniform with gilt detailing and a large tricorn-style hat forming the pouring spout. He holds a vessel inscribed "Hell Fire Jack," while the integral handle curves behind the figure. The base is decorated with the red Cross of St. George and patriotic red, white, and blue coloring.
