This exceptional Chinese runner exemplifies the refined aesthetic of late 19th-century Peking weaving. Its striking composition features a deep indigo field contrasted sharply by ivory and pale blue detailing, making it a highly desirable piece among antique rugs.

The saturated indigo field provides a dramatic backdrop for the stylized Chinese iconography. The use of this specific, vibrant shade of indigo places it firmly within the tradition of sophisticated blue color rugs from the region. The central design is characterized by large, circular medallions interspersed with delicate sprays of cherry blossoms, butterflies, and symbolic vases.

Typical of the finest Imperial Chinese production, the wool pile is dense and soft, rendered in a palette that is both restrained and luxurious. The motifs are elegantly spaced, avoiding the visual clutter often seen in later productions, allowing each symbol—from the stylized clouds to the flowering branches—to breathe within the composition.

Designed specifically for long corridors or grand entryways, this long format piece functions perfectly as one of the most elegant hallway runner rugs available on the market today. Its impressive length and narrow width preserve the integrity of the design while offering unparalleled historical gravitas and enduring decorative appeal. This rug is sized at 2.06ft x 18ft. See less
