A Japanese Arita porcelain jar and cover dating from around 1870 that was later turned into a table lamp in the early 20th century. The elaborate ormolu fittings with applied lionhead ring handles were later additions to the vase (most likely early 1900s).
MAKER'S MARK: Have not inspected bottom of the jar, bronze base is stamped illegibly beneath the base.
CIRCA: Late 19th Century

Good antique condition. The porcelain presents very well. The mounts retain an attractive aged surface with expected oxidation, darkening, rubbing, spotting and areas of gilt loss consistent with age. The lion ring handles show undisturbed patination. Minor surafce wear and irregularities are visisble to the base and upper mounts. The electrical components are recent having removed the old cloth wiring and replacing with clear cord (professionally done). Dual pull chain sockets work as they should. I am happy to answer any questions you may have prior to purchase or to send more photos if needed.
