This exceptional Round Chinese Peking weaving, dating from the early 20th century, showcases the refined aesthetic characteristic of the period. Such pieces are highly prized among antique rugs collectors for their unique structure and subtle artistry.

The design employs traditional Chinese motifs—including stylized dragons and repeating fretwork borders—integrated seamlessly into the overall blue color scheme. The use of subtle variation in the dye lot allows the intricate details to emerge gently from the dark ground, providing texture rather than high contrast.

Peking rugs from this era are renowned for their luxurious, thick pile and superior wool quality. As a Round rug, this piece presents an ideal accent or focal point within larger interiors, offering a sophisticated counterpoint to more traditional rectangular room size rugs.

This piece represents a rare find due to its unusual Round format and deep monochromatic palette. It offers a quiet elegance suitable for both traditional and contemporary settings, serving as a powerful statement of enduring Chinese textile art. See less
