An exceptional and striking mid-20th century Chinoiserie pagoda vitrine / curio cabinet, rendered in deeply patinated carved hardwood. Conceived with dramatic vertical proportions and rich sculptural detailing, this piece commands attention as a singular statement display in a foyer, salon, or collector’s library.
The upper vitrine is crowned by an architectural, flared multi-tiered pagoda roofline flanked by swept dragon eaves and underscored with a pierced Greek key frieze. Fluted barley-twist corner columns frame three sides of display glass, opening via a single brass-hinged door to an illuminated interior fitted with adjustable glass display shelves.
The piece rests on a complementary paneled lower cabinet featuring six relief panels carved with botanical and avian motifs, providing concealed functional storage. Crafted in a practical two-piece construction for effortless transport and installation

The carved hardwood retains a deep, lustrous patina with minor, honest surface wear, light scuffing along the plinth base molding, and faint character marks consistent with age and residential use. Glass panels and shelves are intact with zero chips or cracks. Interior wiring and illumination are in good working order. Architectural Note: The rear-facing dragon carving along the back roofline is absent, positioned where the vintage lighting cord was routed/installed. This is entirely hidden when positioned against a wall or in an alcove and does not affect structural integrity or the striking front presentation. less
