This vintage novelty pitcher is blown from amber glass and whimsically shaped as a plump, roosting hen, with the vessel's body forming the bird's rounded form and its opening doubling as a functional pouring spout. The entire lower body is covered in a raised hobnail pattern, dense rows of glossy round bumps that catch the light and suggest the texture of ruffled feathers, transitioning to a smoother, undecorated upper section near the neck and spout. A sculpted rooster's head and neck rise from one side, topped with a vivid deep red glass comb in a scalloped fan shape and finished with a small pointed beak, giving the piece its playful character. A curved handle, formed from the same amber glass, extends from the body opposite the head, its smooth surface offering an easy, practical grip. The glass carries a warm, honeyed amber tone throughout, deepening to a richer color where the glass pools thicker at the hobnails, and the surface has a glossy, original luster consistent with quality mid-century pressed and blown glassware.
Use this pitcher for serving juice, water, or lemonade at a farmhouse-style brunch, or display it on an open shelf or windowsill where light can pass through the amber glass. Its playful form and warm color suit Farmhouse, Country, Coastal, Eclectic, and Maximalist interiors. The pitcher measures 6 inches wide, 5¾ inches deep, and 6¾ inches high. Hand wash with mild soap and warm water, avoiding the dishwasher and abrasive scrubbers, which can dull the glass's shine. Dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spotting. The pitcher is in very good vintage condition, with a warm, consistent amber hue and original finish, minor surface scuffs, and no visible chips or cracks. Add it to your collection today.
