The surface of the glass hens would have been covered with an irregular layer of melted wax applied with a sponge; the sculptures was then submerged in a vat containing sawdust and hydrofluoric acid to acquire the corrosion of the zones unprotected by the wax. The result is a textured frosted surface. The sculptures produced by Seguso Vetri d’Arte founded in 1933, was one of the most major glass furnaces in the center of visionary and technical innovation.
