Elegant American Federal demi-lune pier table, circa 1800, crafted in richly figured mahogany and distinguished by an exceptionally decorative radiating veneer pattern across the fixed top. The serpentine demi-lune form is outlined with delicate contrasting string inlay and further enhanced by a finely executed central fan or patera motif.
The shaped apron echoes the profile of the top and is framed with additional stringing and figured mahogany veneer. Four slender, square-tapered legs are embellished with contrasting inlaid reserves and decorative vertical banding at the upper leg junctions, terminating in small, stepped feet. The sophisticated combination of figured mahogany, geometric stringing, radiating veneers, and restrained neoclassical ornament is characteristic of the Federal period with strong Sheraton influence.
The table retains a beautifully aged surface with warm reddish-brown mahogany tones and a naturally mellowed patina.
Note: The table is presented as an American Federal-period attribution based on its form, materials, decorative vocabulary, and construction. No maker or regional attribution has been established.

The table exhibits scattered surface scratches, minor abrasions, small veneer losses and areas of finish wear, particularly along the top, edges, apron, and legs. There are old structural repairs and later fastening hardware visible to the underside, consistent with previous restoration or stabilization. Minor age-related separations and imperfections are present in the veneers and inlay. The mahogany retains a warm, mellowed patina with attractive figured grain. The inlaid decoration remains well preserved overall, with some localized wear and losses commensurate with age. The table is structurally stable and suitable for use. Please note: The condition is consistent with an antique piece that has experienced normal age-related wear and previous restoration; it is not presented as untouched or museum condition. less
