This table was acquired from an antique dealer's estate. It is marked / inscribed "Pierston Slate Hill Feb 1921" and "AN/6037" ~ is that the owner's inventory tag, as of 1921 or the date the table was constructed?
Slate Hill is in the town of Wawayanda, within Orange County, New York. Somehow this table found its way from Orange County, NY to Orange County, CA!
This is a very practical piece and in very good condition for its age. The style is traditionally referred to as gateleg, however with the delicate design it could also be called a spider leg table.
It can sit against a wall or in a narrow hallway closed, or of course, partially open alongside a piece of furniture or fully open depending on your space. Closed, the top center section measures 26 inches by 10 inches.
Given the wood grain it appears to be made of solid mahogany. These tables are refered to Colonial Revival / early 20th Century Revival.

- Very good condition; although the design and finish do not appear to have been changed, one of the leaves was … moreVery good condition; although the design and finish do not appear to have been changed, one of the leaves was reglued ~ both ends of the same leaf due to minor areas of splitting along the grain and a bit toward the center portion as well (see pictures). There is a mark on the center section (likely a burn?). As found, one of the hinges was missing all the screws, old new stock screws were ordered and installed. Otherwise the table is quite solid and the finish was revitalized with Howard's Feed-N-Wax. Traces of an original label do not help with identification. Minor signs of wear consistent with age; some scratches and dings on the top when viewed very close up. less
