An exceptionally beautiful antique Wedgwood covered sugar bowl dating to 1930. The gracefully shaped porcelain body and fitted domed lid are richly decorated in an elaborate Imari-inspired palette of deep cobalt blue, iron red, crisp white, and extensive gilt detailing.
Alternating geometric and floral panels encircle the scalloped body, while the lid repeats the intricate decoration and is crowned by a striking pointed finial. The combination of its architectural form, jewel-like colors, and lavish gilding gives this petite piece remarkable visual presence.
The underside bears the Wedgwood England backstamp, handwritten pattern number X6061, and the printed date number “30.” Beautiful displayed independently as a decorative object or incorporated into a collection of English porcelain, Imari ware, or antique tableware.
Made in England, 1930.
