An exceptional Late Baroque chest of drawers dating from circa 1790–1800, distinguished by its gently shaped front and richly decorated veneered surfaces.
The three drawer fronts and the top are embellished with elaborate geometric inlays in contrasting woods. Interlocking linear motifs frame the naturally figured veneers, creating a sophisticated decorative composition and demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of period cabinetmaking. Decorative historic metal fittings and rounded bun feet complete the design.
The chest has been professionally and completely restored using traditional shellac polish, enhancing the depth, colour and natural grain of the various woods while preserving the historic character of this more than two-hundred-year-old piece.
