As cowhide is a natural material, the pattern and texture vary throughout the chair, making this a truly one-of-a-kind piece. One of the defining features of the maralunga is its ingenious adjustable backrest. A patented mechanism hidden inside the structure allows the upper section to move instantly between a low position and a raised headrest position. With the headrest raised, the chair provides excellent support for the head and neck and becomes an exceptionally comfortable lounge chair. The original maralunga is constructed around a steel frame with generous polyurethane foam padding. Its combination of enveloping proportions, softness and mechanical ingenuity made it an important example of 1970s italian design. Dimensions: approx. W 99 × d 95 × h 72/100 cm (headrest down/up) condition: very good vintage condition, newly reupholstered in cowhide. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
