Tall vase with a disc-shaped base on a ring stand and a long, slender, straight neck; colourless glass with yellow-orange … Read more Tall vase with a disc-shaped base on a ring stand and a long, slender, straight neck; colourless glass with yellow-orange powder fusing, overglaze in burgundy, multi-layered, deeply etched magnolia decoration, partially fire-polished (blossoms) with a satin-finished background. Cameo signature 'Gallé' on the neck between the plants. Hand-made Cameo Glass: Glass overlaid with several layers, with high-cut worked out motifs. Since the middle of the 19th century, the design has also been done by etching. Cameo glass vessels were already being made in antiquity; at the end of the 19th century, Émile Gallé further developed this glass art, created Art Nouveau designs and employed a large factory in Nancy.
