Original 1922 print by celebrated Czech artist and printmaker Tavík František Šimon (1877–1942), depicting the antiquarian booksellers along the Seine with Notre-Dame Cathedral rising beyond. The work is pencil signed by Šimon at lower right and bears his distinctive colored monogram mark at lower left.
Listed in the artist’s catalogue raisonné as Novak 374, “Antiquarian Booksellers at Notre-Dame de Paris,” the composition was published in Paris by Estampe Moderne in an edition of 300.
Presented under glass with a soft sage-green mat and vintage silver-tone frame showing attractive age and patina. A wonderfully atmospheric view of early 20th-century Paris and an especially charming example of Šimon’s celebrated European city scenes.
