Large commercial electric coffee grinder by the American Duplex Co. of Louisville, Kentucky, designed in the form of an oversized coffee pot. The sculptural machine features a brushed metal body with domed lid, pronounced spout and handle, mounted on a substantial black pedestal base. The front-mounted grinder mechanism provides three grind settings and an off position controlled by a lever, while a removable tin receptacle collects the ground coffee below. An unusual example of 1930s commercial equipment combining functional machinery with bold Art Deco advertising design. Reportedly produced in a limited run of 203 examples.
