This elegant vintage Chinese box is a beautiful example of traditional craftsmanship. Crafted from dense, dark hardwood (zitan or rosewood style), this large rectangular box features a stunning "Mother of Pearl" (shell) inlay on the lid.
Key Features:
Auspicious "Bird and Flower" Motif: The lid is beautifully inlaid with a classic "Bird and Flower" (花鸟) scene. It depicts a bird perched on a blossoming branch, rendered in iridescent white, pink, and green shell. The scene is accompanied by four inlaid Chinese characters reading "鸟踏花枝" (Bird on a Flowering Branch), a traditional motif symbolizing joy, beauty, and the arrival of good news.
Rich Dark Wood: The box is made from dark, dense hardwood with a fine grain and a smooth, aged patina that highlights its vintage character.
Vintage Hardware: The front features a traditional circular brass lock plate (hasp) with an aged patina. (Note: No key is included; the latch is for closure).
Spacious Storage: At 30 cm long, this box offers ample storage. It is perfect for organizing jewelry, important documents, tea accessories, or as a sophisticated decorative centerpiece on a desk or console.
