This example is particularly special for its rare, mirror-like high-gloss wood finish, which brings remarkable depth and richness to the grain and gives the table a more glamorous presence than typical finishes.

The substantial rectangular top is finished with a refined beveled edge, while the sculptural double-fused Z base creates the dramatic intersecting geometry for which the design is known. The strong symmetry, polished surface and architectural lines give the table a distinct Art Deco influence while remaining clean and contemporary. Construction is exceptional: Hellman-Chang mills the sculptural legs from exceptionally thick solid wood before shaping each one individually by hand, meaning no two are precisely alike.

While this table in this size usually retails in the $20,000 range, the gorgeous high gloss finish brings the price up to $41,225. Hellman-Chang uses the same polisher who finishes Steinway Pianos, which is an extremely costly and labor-intensive process that results in arguably the best high-polish finish in the world.
