The … Read more An American Art Nouveau pitcher, circa 1890–1910, combining clear glass with an elaborate fine-silver overlay, by Alvin Manufacturing Company. The rounded lower body narrows into a tall neck and rises to an undulating pouring lip, balanced by a generously curved loop handle. Broad silver coverage around the mouth and handle contrasts with the delicate, open-pattern decoration extending across the glass body.

Clusters of grapes, deeply lobed vine leaves, and curling tendrils form a continuous ornamental network, interspersed with angular connecting stems. The exposed glass allows the decoration on the opposite side to remain visible, creating depth within the intricate silver design. An oval reserve bears an engraved ornamental monogram, while the underside is finished with a radiating cut-glass star.

The photographed marks include a fineness inscription, the number appearing to read “3631-3,” and a partially legible emblem whose outline is consistent with Alvin’s published mark incorporating an “A” between two circular devices.
