So excited to share this signed and numbered antique tramp art sewing box. What I particularly like about this one is its provenance. It's signed, labeled, and numbered "#8" by its maker, Mahlon Stauffer of Ephrata, Pennsylvania.
The previous owner of this box stated is was made in 1890. And there is a piece of paper in the box stating this claim, but the paper itself is not from 1890.
The pincushion on the top and interior lining are made of the same velvet fabric, but the pincushion fabric is slightly faded by exposure to light.
In very good condition throughout with no discernible issues: warm brown color, crisp carving, brass hinges, smooth-working drawers, and clean velvet.
