History
Designed by the legendary husband-and-wife team Charles and Ray Eames in 1969, the Soft Pad chair was created as a luxurious evolution of their earlier Aluminum Group chairs. Produced by Herman Miller in the United States and Vitra in Europe, these chairs were intended for high-end corporate boardrooms and executive offices. Today, they are prized icons of mid-century modern design and remain staples of modern interior architecture and vintage collecting.
