The cylindrical body is painted in a striking palette of scarlet red, glossy black, cream, white and gold. Its richly detailed Royal Marines emblazon incorporates the British lion and unicorn, Queen Elizabeth II cyphers, the Royal Marines globe-and-laurel badge, the “Gibraltar” battle honor and the corps motto “Per Mare, Per Terram”—“By Sea, By Land.”

Cream twisted-rope tensioning, molded tabs and gold-tone fittings reproduce the appointments of a traditional military side drum, giving the piece wonderful dimension and sculptural presence. The bucket remains complete with its removable white plastic liner and matching handled lid. The underside of the lid bears the molded maker’s mark “Regimental Replicas England.”

Established in 1969, Regimental Replicas developed its miniature ice buckets using carefully scaled artwork based on full-size British regimental drums. The company’s preserved design records allowed the elaborate insignia, appointed bands and ropework of individual regiments to be faithfully reproduced in decorative form.

Although examples occasionally surface in Britain, complete vintage Royal Marines buckets are rarely encountered in the American decorative market—particularly with both the original liner and lid and in such clean, well-preserved condition.

A wonderfully graphic and unmistakably British piece for a traditional home bar, library, study or English country interior. Equally compelling as functional barware or as a decorative object among military, heraldic or royal memorabilia.
