Substantial in scale, the tureen features a classic oval body raised on a broad pedestal foot and topped by a generously domed fitted lid. Particularly distinctive are the sculptural bar-form handles applied to both sides and repeated on the lid, lending an architectural quality to an otherwise beautifully restrained form.
The underside bears the period manufacturer's backstamp with crown and “Royal Stone China / Maddock & Co. / Burslem England / Trade Mark.”

Measuring approximately 13 inches handle to handle and 8 inches high with the lid in place, this is a substantial tureen with considerable decorative presence. Beautiful displayed on a dining-room sideboard, kitchen dresser, open shelving or incorporated into a collection of antique English white ironstone.
