An exceptional, high-end mid-century modern bedroom case goods set featuring clean-lined, minimalist styling. This matching two piece set includes a spacious five drawer chest of drawers and a rare matching four drawer tall Nightstand/bachelor’s chest. Designed with a sleek, handleless profile and inset square wooden pulls. This set beautifully captures the iconic post war American industrial aesthetic.
Craftsmanship and materials:
Built for durability, this set features stunning, premium, blonde ash veneers, showcasing, dramatic, book-matched ‘cathedral’ grain arches across the tops and drawer fronts.
True to mid-century heirloom quality, there is absolutely zero modern pressed wood, particleboard, or MDF in this construction. The structural, chassis and heavy, smooth, sliding drawers are built entirely from robust old growth solid lumber-core plywood panels.
Provenance and markings:
The under carriages and drawer bottoms bear the authentic vintage stamps of the Atlas Plywood Company, (Boston, Mass), a legendary, industrial Mill known for supplying high grade structural panels to top-tier mid-century furniture manufacturers. While there are no makers marks from a specific boutique studio, the architectural block feet and integrated square pulls are executed beautifully in the distinct style of Raymond Loewy’s iconic work for the Mengel Furniture Company.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition with rock solid, sturdy frame. The set has been meticulously, cleaned, and freshly detailed with a premium hand rubbed wax finish to protect the wood and make the radiant, light blonde ash grain truly pop. Ready to immediately elevate any minimalist, Scandinavian, or classic MCM interior.

The heavy, solid lumber-core drawers slide smoothly and function perfectly. The exterior surfaces have been meticulously cleaned and refreshed with a premium, hand rubbed wax finish that enhances the natural blonde ash cathedral grain. Because these are true vintage pieces from the 1950s, expect minor age appropriate character marks, faint surface scratches, or light scuffs, consistent with careful history and use. There are no structural issues, deep gouges, or modern particle board repairs. Fully detailed and ready for immediate use. less
