The golden oak surface highlights two drawers, fluted pilasters, turned feet, characteristic of France furniture making in the french provincial tradition, of the french provincial period. The gentle wear across its surface was earned over real decades of use, not applied for effect, and it only adds to the piece's presence. Pieces of this age were made to outlast a single household, and each one carries the quiet imprint of the hands and years that came before. Furnishing with antiques is a gentle form of good stewardship, letting well-built pieces continue their working life rather than ending up in a landfill. It is well suited to a bedside table.
