Finished in antique gold, this carved giltwood mirror is distinguished by rectangular molded gilt frame, reflecting the louis philippe sensibility of of the louis philippe period France design. The gentle wear across its surface was earned over real decades of use, not applied for effect, and it only adds to the piece's presence. Pieces of this age were made to outlast a single household, and each one carries the quiet imprint of the hands and years that came before. Choosing an antique is also a small, meaningful act of sustainability: it keeps a well-made object in circulation instead of adding a new one to a landfill.
