The weathered honey oak surface highlights mullioned glass panes, matching simple molded frame, characteristic of France furniture making in the french provincial tradition, of the french provincial period. The gentle wear across its surface was earned over real decades of use, not applied for effect, and it only adds to the piece's presence. An object that has already survived this long carries a kind of authenticity no reproduction can offer, and living with it means becoming part of its ongoing story. Furnishing with antiques is a gentle form of good stewardship, letting well-built pieces continue their working life rather than ending up in a landfill. It is well suited to above a console or in a hallway. See less
