An evocative coastal landscape by American artist Woody Gruber (1946–2022), “Deer Isle Landscape” depicts a stately island house overlooking the Maine shoreline. Gruber renders the architecture, surrounding trees, and darkly textured hillside with meticulous linework, creating a wonderfully atmospheric sense of place.
Created in 1975, the work is a drypoint intaglio etching from a limited edition of 75. It is pencil-numbered 49/75 at lower left, titled “Deer Isle Landscape” at lower center, and signed “Woody Gruber ’75 imp.” at lower right. The “imp.” inscription traditionally indicates an impression printed by the artist.
Gruber operated Baltimore’s Dickeyville Gallery during the mid-1970s, placing this work within a documented period of his printmaking career.
Presented beneath glass with a wide neutral mat in its vintage silver-tone frame. Its quiet coastal subject, architectural detail, and monochromatic palette make it especially well suited to traditional, English country, New England coastal, collected cottage, and Ralph Lauren-inspired interiors.

Estate documentation identifying the artist, title, medium, date, edition, and dimensions accompanied the work when acquired.
