One ashtray (Hers) depicts delicate gold florals on a turquoise rim, with a fishscale background and foliage reminiscent of the Aesthetic Movement. Its back stamp reads 'Alka Bavaria Apart PJ'. The second ashtray (His) is navy blue and gold, depicting a castle and coat of arms, with 'Frankfurt a M' printed below. Its back stamp reads 'Alka Bavaria Fine Kobalt 2008', specifying that the premium cobalt oxidized glazes were used. Both ashtrays have an ornately scalloped edge.

While we cannot verify it, multiple independent archival and collector sources confirm that Alka Kunst (Alboth & Kaiser) historically utilized 22-karat or 24-karat gold liquid bright glazes for their mid-century cobalt luxury lines. See less
