Each example pairs … Read more This charming Pair of Victorian American Silver-Plated Figural Napkin Rings originated in the United States, circa 1880. Each example pairs a cylindrical napkin ring, finished with concentric reeding at the rim, with a shaped cartouche base that is engraved in low relief with foliate ornament. A cast figural child in a cap is mounted to the front of each base, posed at a small anchor; the figures are rendered in lively relief and present a bright, reflective silver-plated surface throughout. The rings sit on scalloped, molded bases that mirror the engraving on the platform and provide a raised presentation for folded linens. The pair is a coordinated set, matched for scale, finish, and decorative motif, suitable for tabletop display as well as functional use with napery. The pair is in very good vintage condition.
