Hand-painted in exquisite, historic gold gilt work, the box features traditional Chinoiserie court scenes depicting figures, pavilions, pagodas, and lush foliage panels framed by delicate foliate borders.The caddy stands on its original four ornately cast metal dragon or foliate feet, giving it a striking, elevated silhouette. The interior is finished in a clean, smooth black lacquer. While it originally functioned as a tea caddy, it is now empty of its internal metal liners, making it perfectly suited to be repurposed as a high-end jewelry box, keepsake chest, or statement vanity organizer. This piece displays a wonderful, authentic historic patina.
