The vessel has a rounded body, cylindrical neck, projecting spout and loop handle.

the front is printed with the titled arms of the ancient & honourable fraternity of free & accepted masons. The design includes the quartered emblematic shield, the motto "audi, vide, tace", and the distinctive calf-hoofed winged cherubim supporters associated with the garrison version of the transfer.

on the reverse, the titled image "the gauntlet clipper ship" records the iron clipper gauntlet of 1853. Both black printed scenes were coloured by hand in yellow, green and iron-red enamels. Pink and copper-purple splash lustre is applied over the cream-white body and around the rim, collar and spout. The unmarked underside has fine crazing and an old paper collection label numbered "170".

excellent condition. There is a small firing hairline confined to the glaze inside the spout; it does not extend into the body. Otherwise excellent, examined under uv light. See less
