A loosely drawn Sultanabad-design carpet on a soft camel-gold field, with a folk-art twist — large palmettes, rosettes and angular … Read more A loosely drawn Sultanabad-design carpet on a soft camel-gold field, with a folk-art twist — large palmettes, rosettes and angular vine sprays are scattered with woven birds, deer, camels, goats and little standing figures spread across the open ground. A hooked octagonal medallion anchors the lower field, and a running-dog and rosette border frames the whole.

Hand-knotted from hand-spun wool with a low, even pile on a cotton foundation. All colors are natural vegetable and mineral dyes, which give the soft tones and the light color shifts (abrash) you get from hand-dyed wool. The warm camel ground keeps the blue, red and lavender motifs easy on the eye.

Colors: camel gold, denim blue, brick red, lavender, teal green and ivory.
