An allover Ersari-design carpet with rows of large octagonal guls — the "elephant-foot" motif of Turkmen weaving — set on a deep madder-red field. Each gul is quartered and filled with stylized animal heads and hooked motifs, and small woven birds, deer and horses are scattered in the red ground between them. A narrow barber-pole and hooked border frames the field.
Hand-knotted from hand-spun wool with a low, even pile on a cotton foundation. All colors are natural vegetable and mineral dyes, which give the deep tones and the light color shifts (abrash) you get from hand-dyed wool.
Colors: madder red, navy, denim blue, teal green, gold and ivory.
