A 1980s Scottish coastal landscape in oil on academy board, depicting dunes above a beach with water and a distant shoreline beyond. John Bathgate, born in Scotland in 1949, trained in an apprenticeship style under artist and teacher Robert Fraser. By 1979 he had joined the Lothian Group and was exhibiting around Edinburgh. He now works from the northwest of Skye, overlooking Loch Bracadale, painting the shifting coastal light of the region. Signed lower right.
