A sensitively modeled figure of a reclining pug, cast in bronze, resting on a low, shaped plinth. Probably European and nineteenth century, the sculpture depicts the dog with its forelegs extended, hindquarters gathered to one side, and head raised in an attentive pose.

The characterization centers on the broad, shortened muzzle, deeply furrowed brow, folded ears, and prominent eyes. Closely worked fur follows the contours of the shoulders and rounded body, while the curled tail and individually defined toes reinforce the naturalistic treatment. A broad collar encircles the neck. Dark brown and greenish surface tones emphasize the recessed modeling, contrasting with the smoother finish of the plinth, whose curved outline accommodates the animal’s reclining form.
