A sizable textured stoneware weedpot by noted American potter William Wyman, c. 1963. Excellent vintage condition with no defects. Signed and stamped on bottom.
William Wyman (American, 1922–1980) was an influential mid-century studio potter and educator renowned for his expressive stoneware slab vessels and architectural forms. After studying at Columbia University, he co-founded the famed Herring Run Pottery in Massachusetts, producing both refined utilitarian wares and sculptural objects. Today, his pioneering ceramic work is held in prestigious permanent collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
