It is beautifully crafted from Picasso Marble and sits atop an attached matching marble base. Tied tightly to the bear's back with natural sinew cordage is a traditional ceremonial offering bundle featuring a hand crafted stone arrowhead. In Zuni culture, the bear is the Guardian of the West, symbolizing supreme strength, inner power, physical and emotional healing, and protection. The arrowhead represents a protective prayer or medicine pack, meant to empower the spirit within the stone. The base is signed with the stylized initials TH.
I describe the sculpture as large because fetishes are typically 1-2 inches in size and meant to be carried to provide protection, health and good luck. This is large by comparison and meant to sit in a place of prominence in your home. See less
