The composition features a boldly outlined central portrait rendered in black, surrounded by the artist’s name, “Donald Baechler,” hand-painted in muted red along the rim. Its simplified figure, confident linework and deliberately direct execution are characteristic of Baechler’s distinctive Neo-Expressionist visual language.

This is an individually hand-painted and glazed original artwork—not a commercially produced print or edition. It comes from a private South Florida estate collection that included multiple artist-commissioned plates from the Hamptons charity event.

Donald Baechler emerged from New York’s influential 1980s art scene and became widely recognized for his pared-down images of heads, flowers and everyday objects. His work is represented in major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
