The composition pairs two female figures rendered in fragmented, geometric planes typical of the period’s cubist and art deco crossover work. The upper figure is shown in profile, wearing a striped cloche-style hat with dark curly hair spilling out beneath it and a small earring visible at the ear. Below her, a second face takes on a mask-like quality, angular and flattened, with a raised hand showing red-painted nails.

The palette stays dark and moody throughout, built from blacks, deep olive greens, and ochre tones, with cream highlights defining the faces and small red accents in the lips and nails giving the only real pop of color. See less
