The marble and onyx stone is in excellent condition, as is the metal (although some of the gilt finish has deteriorated or been scrubbed off; some gold repainting has been done). The bases are made of spelter, as are the decorative elements above the marble; the rest of the metal is solid brass. The lamps, recently rewired, are fitted with 3-way sockets, so you can enjoy different wattage settings with the flick of the switch. Or, use the on-off inline switches conveniently situated on the wire, close to the lamp bases. You don't need to use 3-way bulbs, any standard-based bulbs will work.

The white shades are brand new and of the highest quality, being cased glass and having no seams. You can use these lamps as they are, with the glass shades as "table torchieres," but you can also rest fabric or paper shades of your choice on the glass shades, as was the intention originally. These would be positively smashing with black paper shades, no?

Dimensions: Standing about 23 1/2 inches high, with the shades. The bases are about 4 inches across. The top of the shade opening is about 5 1/2 inches. See less
