From the living estate of Arizona based brutalist sculpture artist, John Gleason, add a splash of whimsical character to your dining table or sunroom with this charming vintage Art Nouveau-style Majolica frog pitcher. Beautifully sculpted in high relief, it features a wide-eyed, open-mouthed frog perched on a base of dimensional lily pads and reeds, with a textured brown handle mimicking a natural plant stem.
This piece belongs to the highly collectible "Nouveau Majolica" revival line produced by the renowned Wan Jiang factory in the 1990s and imported into the US by home decor distributor CBK Ltd. It is finished in rich, lustrous, semi-translucent glazes of pale sage green and warm amber-yellow, complete with hand-painted red accents inside the mouth.
The unglazed underside clearly features the vertical impressed factory stamp "WAN JIANG" alongside the "CHINA" origin mark and handwritten production item codes. Whether used to pour iced tea, styled as an eclectic flower vase, or added to a novelty animal pottery collection, this pitcher is a bold, nostalgic accent full of storytelling appeal.
