A striking vintage Norwegian hand-carved wooden tankard with a fitted lid, decorated with elaborate Viking-inspired and Nordic folk-art motifs.
The body is richly carved with stylized animals, interlaced forms, scrolling ornament, and mythological-looking figures. The sculptural handle and lid are especially distinctive, incorporating dramatic dragon-like and animal elements that give the piece a strong visual connection to traditional Scandinavian carving and Viking revival aesthetics.
The tankard is carved from solid wood and retains the warm natural tone and visible grain of the material. The craftsmanship is highly decorative, with deep relief carving across the body, handle, lid, and base, creating a sculptural object that is impressive from every angle.
Although shaped as a traditional drinking vessel, the piece is best suited today as a decorative folk-art object, collector’s piece, or statement accent for Scandinavian, rustic, Nordic, or cabin-style interiors.
A distinctive large-scale decorative piece for collectors of Norwegian folk art, Viking-inspired design, Scandinavian woodcarving, and vintage Nordic interiors.

The hand-carved surface remains very well preserved, and the decorative details are still sharp and expressive. Minor surface wear, light rubbing, small marks, or other age-related irregularities may be present and are consistent with the vintage nature of the piece. Upon visual inspection, no significant cracks, major chips, structural damage, or obvious signs of restoration were observed. All known condition details are shown in the photographs. less
